They claim to be “In The Know”, but are they? – Part II – Followers

Thank you so much for all the positive feedback regarding Part I, this goes for both the ITKs as for people like me. I was amazed by how positive most of your reactions were, I expected that some of you were going to be furious.

Anyway, in Part I you could read why I started this and what the some of the ITKs tweeted. In this part I’ll be talking about their followers.

Let’s first take a look at how many followers each of the ITKs have on twitter:

N.A. – both accounts have been deleted, but protected first, therefore you can’t trace the tweets

Agent Jim

In case you missed it, he used to be a football agent.

Ben Fairthorne

These were taken on 12/09/13.

For those of you who do not have any experience with twitter, IndyKaila’s got the most followers and ShereWillPower the least.

The most powerful Arsenal ITK is Geoff and I don’t think there are many Arsenal fans on twitter who don’t know who Geoff is. Despite half of the Arsenal fans hating (on) him constantly, Geoff manages to (usually) stay polite even when he receives abuse.

Your reactions

Here’s a selection of the tweets I received:

Though most of you were willing to send screencaptures of the tweets, hardly anyone wanted credit for them, which I believe is rather odd, are you afraid either one of them is going to bite your head off?

I did receive a few reactions and there were basically three types of reactions.

1. Hate
2. Annoyance (e.g. Getting your hopes up, everyone suddenly believes every single rumour)
3. People shouldn’t take it too seriously and just laugh.

Alex: “ITKs annoy me, more than you’ll ever know. They also entertain me though.”
Rebecca: “I don’t understand why, most of these accounts are hosted by adults, do they not have a job?!”
Adam: “I don’t follow ITKs, I don’t want to follow any ITKs either, but you can’t escape their rumours, not if you’re on twitter.”
Terese: “I find it funny how they can lie to us, get our hopes up and eventually get upset because we aren’t happy and no longer trust them.”
John: “They should just shut the f*ck up, bunch of c*nts!”

What made me laugh is how you all attacked every single one of them, including Geoff on twitter. Screaming you have screencaptures of his deleted tweets and when I asked you about them I received about 600+ screencapture of Indy, Ben, Dan etc. and those who did email me screencaptures of Geoff either asked to stay anonymous, or it was the 42 million German tweet. Yet as soon as he turns his back a lot of you attack him, but you seem to be too scared to actually mention him.

How did the ITKs react?

Geoff has been rather supportive of this blog post and shared it with his followers, despite knowing there are a lot of ‘haters’ following him.

We tried to get in touch with Indy, he hasn’t responded yet.

DialSquare_1886, OpinionDan and BFairthorne have all been in touch and gave me their opinion.

Ben Fairthorne:

He posted a comment to Part I:

Ahh you fail to mention that i said Gervinho to move to Roma, that Reina indeed moved to Napoli when others said Cesar, I also went against the others by saying we were not going for Bernado, Gustavo and that Bender was wanted but wages were an issue. Oh and I mentioned that Per would be captain, even if by default, that one remains to be seen. I also mentioned Dein coming back and in light of new speculation that Gazidis could be pushed out next summer or sooner I wonder who his replacement will be?!

What 140 characters will never explain is reasons and what alot of people don’t get is how or why transfers come off or don’t. The info I get comes from the top, not some boy in the box office or press office, but those who make the financial decisions for Arsenal. I cannot reveal who it is, but what people have to realise is this.
When a player’s name is given to the board, when the negotiations start between clubs, agents and players, many things can happen for and against.
For example, two players. Higuain was agreed. Napoli gazumped us and Wenger refused to up the money for the player, another example was Rooney. At the end of last season he was extremely unhappy and his agent started talks with as many clubs as to who were interested. We asked for a medical, which was laughed about at the time, but players have medicals all the time, out of the transfer windows so agents, clubs and the likes can check on a player’s fitness. The thing with Rooney is he became injured and returned early from tour and then Moyes had a sit down with him and they have agreed to see how it goes certainly until January. Since they sat down Rooney got injured again, this time more serious.

To clarify, Giles is a made up name of the person I speak to, he is real, he is at Arsenal and what he gives is upto date info, but that alwys seemed to changed, sometimes hourly.

I actually said Cesc was NOT coming back, his agent ( Darren Dein ) lives not far from me and the speculation of him returning to England was all because his girlfriend got Cesc to buy her ex marital home in Knightsbridge which fuelled paper talk.

Cesar failed due to players wages, we were very close to the deal and everything was agreed in principle, but Wenger changed his mind once the wage demands went over what was agreed originally.

Suarez was NEVER about staying in the Premier League, he wants to go to Spain. His agent, Pep’s brother had given Arsenal wrong information about his contract, infact it was a subliminal message to clubs in Spain to let them know how much they would need to bid for his services. Suarez doesn’t want to stay in England so why would he talk to Arsenal. Yet again our naive Gazidis was led up the wrong garden path.

The Bale deal was indeed the trigger for alot of transfers, Madrid do not have the deep pockets they once had, and had to sell in order to finance the Bale deal, hence why we got Ozil. Again I claimed we were not in for Di Maria and Benzema didn’t want to leave Madrid.

Finally, i think you will find, I gave the Ozil as done on the morning it happened and said he would wear the no.11. well before anyone reported it as done late that afternoon. not that I wanting bragging rights or anything ;)

The situation Arsenal now face unlike our rivals down the road, is they never secured the replacements for players they let go. Look at all the players who have been shipped out, rightly or wrongly, and all we got was one world class player. Our squad needs to be improved and the board will see to this in Jan.

The other problem is Gazidis, telling everyone who wants to listen we can afford big transfers and big wages and we are bringing in world class players does not help anyone when sitting down at the negotiating table.

I think if you want to do a full dossier on those you claim to be ITK, atleast give them the right to reply.

Kind regards
p.s Giles says hi”

Thanks Dan.

They claim to be “In The Know”, but are they? – Part I – Tweets

We’ve all seen them, even if we didn’t care it was impossible to avoid them… ITKs. People who claim to have inside sources at a football club, people who claim to be BFF with football agents and/or claim to be related to football players. They get our hopes up and disappoint us.

I decided to save screencaptures of their tweets, just to see who was right/wrong at the end of the transfer window.

Here’s Part I – What did they tweet?

I think every single one of us knows he’s a fraud by now. For those who aren’t quite convinced, here are just a few of Indy’s tweets:

I don’t even know where to start… Let’s move on.

For those who’ve been following this blog for a while, you know that Ree wrote a post about WayneGooney18, also known as ‘abrokediaby’. In case you are not familiar with either one of these accounts -we all envy you- here are  a few tweets:

So boys, where is Cesc? Or Higuaín/Rooney/Fellaini/Cesar?

In case you want to contact either WayneGooney18 or abrokediaby, both accounts are either deleted or suspended. I guess we’ll never know why Cesc didn’t join and why we never signed a striker…

Some believe him, some don’t. Here’s a few of Dan’s tweets:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Couple of things, it’s Higuaín* and you were right. The deal’s done, unfortunately not with Arsenal.
Both Rooney and Fellaini are playing for Manchester United this season.
Arsène Wenger confirmed we were actually in for Suárez*.
Unless Cesar changed his name to Viviano, I’m pretty sure that deal wasn’t done.

Agent Jim

Apparently Agent Jim is a young lad living in Tottenham, supporting Spurs and Ipswich and he’s not “ITK”, mind you I got this information from another ‘ITK’ so I’m not quite sure if this is true.

Anyway, Agent Jim didn’t have that much new information. Take a look at his tweets:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

If the ‘kid’ placed a bet on you not knowing what on earth you’re talking about, I think he won. Well done kiddo!

…at least he knows how to spell the names…
Oh wait, Higuaín*.

Ben Fairthorne

We all know this guy, right? If you don’t, you’re probably not on twitter. If you are and you somehow managed to avoid this guy, you deserve an award. Well done, take a bow!

Check out some of his tweets:

Le sigh.
Keep up the good work Ben, you’re doing great!

For your information, this guy claims to have Pat Rice in his list of contacts on his phone. Just so you know, here’s what his sources told him:

Three things. 1. Who’s Gamez? 2. I think Gustavo really did prefer Wolfsburg 3. What happened to Suárez?

Nice try though,

You introduced me to this guy. Here are two of his tweets:

WIlliams? No. Cesar? No. Nani? No. Gervinho? Yeah, he actually left.

Some of you believe this guy is trustworthy, others believe he’s worse than Indy. Some of you like him, others don’t.

Here are a few of his tweets:

Is someone trying to be better than Geoff?

Now that I’ve mentioned him anyway, let’s look at some of his tweets. Some people hate him, others love him. Some people believe he always has everything right, others believe he’s just talking. Here’s a few tweets from Geoff:

Say whatever you want about Geoff, he’s always politically correct in his responses.

There were more accounts claiming to have inside information. Here are a few tweets:

The Joey Barton to West Ham rumours:

Oh and there was this wee argument between WayneGooney18 and OpinionDan:

And people talking about it:

I think it’s safe to say 99% do not have a clue what on earth they’re on about. Those who may have a guy on the inside make mistakes as well. Truth of the matter is, no deal is done until either the player, the club or the player’s former club confirmed it. Yes, speculation is fun and it keeps us all entertained, but is it really worth it? Do these guys really deserves this much attention? The worst part is we can’t seem to help ourselves, we want to believe their rumours so bad. I personally find most of the ITKs annoying as f*ck, yet after speaking to some of them, they were actually quite nice. Most of them think they actually have the power to change Arsenal’s plans, others genuinely believe this is the way to help fellow fans and to keep them updated and a few actually believe they know what’s going on, when they don’t.

It’s up to you if you still believe ITKs, or people who claim to be ITK. Please consider your heart and your feelings before making your decision and please realise that abuse is not the way to go. It doesn’t matter who it is, what they claim to be or why they do it, they are people and they don’t deserve to receive threats (and those who do, only deserve it because they’re challenging you and they want your attention, if you really hate them that much, don’t give them the attention).

Tonight will be Part II of the ITK saga, which will include your views on the matter
(you can still send an email with your views to

More pictures will be added to the galleries throughout the weekend.

Thank you so much for all the RTs and Shares. Keep it up!
Thank you to everyone who’s sent me emails with screencaps, I am still trying to get through all of them -which is why more pictures will be added throughout the weekend- I received 1042 emails from you guys so far and hopefully even more after you read this post.

Don’t forget to vote on the polls!
Results will be posted in Part III (this Sunday) in which we’ll reveal who’s helped out with the screencaptures!

Diary of a Gooner: Thursday – August 15th, 2013

‘littlebit’ more patience…

Today’s hottest topics? Gustavo, Suárez/Rooney/Michu and Flamini.

Gustavo’s off to Wolfsburg because Arsenal “aren’t willing to pay”, read: “can’t guarantee a first team spot”. Gooners do not like this, remember those who said Gustavo wasn’t good enough, he was just a sh*t player etc.? Yeah, they’re screaming the loudest at the moment.

Suárez and Rooney. Rumours everywhere. Suárez is staying at Liverpool, yet joining Arsenal and Rooney  is going, but no one is completely sure where. Gooners seem to prefer Rooney over Suárez, though most agree both men are world class strikers. Gooners also believe that it’s more likely for us to end up with Michu, but after thinking about it for a while, Suárez is more likely to join Arsenal (than Rooney). To sum it up: Gooners want Rooney. Gooner believe Suárez is more likely. Gooner think we’ll end up with Michu. Oh to be a Gooner.

Flamini then. Apparently we can sign Flamini, who left us hanging a few seasons ago, back on a free transfer. Flamini is an experienced player, who could be a decent back up since our squad is rather thin and the number of players with injuries keeps rising. However, Gooners don’t want him. Mind you, the Gooners who are screaming the loudest in this case are the same Gooner who did not want Gustavo in the beginning and are now begging him to join us and they’re also the ones who were saying that we should sign a player with Premier League experience. Make your minds up.

In other news, it’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s 20th birthday! – The Boss said Arsenal will be active until the end of the transfer season. – Josh Vickers has joined Canvey Island on a short-term loan deal.

Diary of a Gooner: Saturday – August 10th, 2013

Some Liverpool fans are a disgrace to their club. Then again, they’d fit right in with John W. Henry and Brendan Rodgers.

Today’s hottest topics? Gustavo, Perez and the Liverpool versus Suárez saga continues.

(Internet) rumour has it that a Gustavo fee has been agreed! Gooners reacted in three ways, they either did not care, they accused Arsenal of panic buying (again) or they were, sorta, satisfied. This story has not been confirmed.

Perez made an unexpected debut today in our game versus City in Helsinki. I’d say, well done to the lad. At first Gooners were outraged, after they’d actually seen him play their opinions changed. Though most Gooners still agree we have an extremely thin squad, the majority of Gooner were rather satisfied with Perez and how he played, especially how he took Navas down.

Back to Suárez. Where to start?
John W. Henry promised Liverpool fans that Suárez would stay at Liverpool and took it a step further by saying Liverpool will win the league again and that the club is aiming for trophies and a Top 4 place (who’s smoking, what and where John?).
Just in case you somehow managed to miss the message, manager Rodgers has told fans and press, after Liverpool lost 1-0 to Celtic in Dublin, that Suárez is NOT for sale. No sh*t. He then continued and stated that Suárez must apologise to his teammates (maybe you should stop drinking Guinness Brendan?).
Gooners, and most football fans, basically said that this confirms Liverpool is classless, for mentioning Arsenal and doing it in public, and that they’re smoking something at Liverpool FC, though we’re not quite sure what yet.
That’s not the end of today’s story though! The Irish Mirror published an interview with Suárez’s international teammate Cavani, in which Cavani said: “The Liverpool coach can talk about loyalty and disrespect, but maybe he needs to look up what it means,” – ouch – Cavani continued by saying he knew about the agreement Suárez had with Liverpool and that Suárez showed loyalty when he turned down an offer from Juventus to stay at Liverpool and fight for the Champions League spot. That’s got to hurt.

In other news, Arsenal have won their last pre-season friendly in Helsinki versus Manchester City with 3-1. Goals from Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud. Goalscorer for Manchester City was Negredo. – Fellow Gooner Mo Farah won gold in the 10,000m at the World Athletic Championships. – Arsenal Ladies are back in action tomorrow versus Everton in the FA Women’s Super League. – The First Team are back in London.

See you tomorrow!

Cavani interview Irish Mirror

Diary of a Gooner: Friday – August 9th, 2013

The squad gets thinner and Gooners get less supportive.

Today’s hottest topics? Gustavo, Miquel, Suárez and Rooney.

We all know him, the man who seems to be in control of the feelings of many Gooners, the lovely Geoff. Geoff is known for giving transfer information and he’s rather reliable on the short term and today he simply tweeted a name, which was enough for 75% of Gooners to have a meltdown and the other 25% were left either confused or outraged. The name he tweeted? Gustavo. Judging by the reactions on social media websites, most Gooners would love Gustavo at Arsenal. Unfortunately for those who got a bit too excited, there’s another London team interested, Chelsea. Though most Chelsea fans appear to be unaware of that. Of course there were the usual Gooners complaining about Gustavo, but most seem to be satisfied with Gustavo, if he joins Arsenal.

Arsenal youngster Miquel moved to Leicester on a season long loan deal. Now you’d think that we’d be happy our youngster is getting an opportunity to prove himself, but you’re wrong. With a very thin squad this amazing deal for Miquel was simply the cue for yet another meltdown.

Suárez then, apparently he’s making an effort with the fans and he’s about to have, or already having, a talk with Rodgers about his future at Liverpool. Meanwhile, many journalists and public figures have stated it show the difference between Arsenal and Liverpool when you look how differently the two clubs are handling things. Gooners are still mocking Liverpool fans.

On to Rooney. A move from United to Chelsea seems highly unlikely, not to mention that Rooney still has to agree personal terms with Chelsea and chances of that ever happening are basically non existent, though it’s not impossible. Anyway, with Chelsea out of the way and ITKs talking about him, Gooners are joining them and they’re basically daydreaming over Rooney scoring goals and hoping that he mentions the little boy inside of him during a press conference, there’s nothing wrong with dreaming.

In other news, Arsenal will play Fenerbahce in the Champions League play offs. – Arsenal has arrived in Helsinki ahead of the pre-season friendly versus Manchester City. – The Boss says that Arsenal will act respectfully and amicably in the transfer market. – New Arsenal Ladies signing Mitchell said that she couldn’t turn the down the opportunity to play for Arsenal, and for that we thank her.

See you tomorrow!

Diary of a Gooner: Tuesday – August 6th, 2013

Suárez, Rooney and Bale are all “injured”, wonder if they have the same injury as a certain former Arsenal player had. I think it’s a typical case of the “nope. Get me outta here” injury. Wonder how we can get Bendtner “injured”…

Today’s hottest topics? A religious man, claiming to be a Gooner, praying for Wenger to get brain cancer, Suárez, Gervinho, El Jadeyaoui and Mikel Arteta. Oh, and angry Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham fans.

Let’s start with the plastic fan. This man tweeted, right after he tweeted two rather religious tweets stating that he’s proud to believe in God (his English is terrible, but that’s what he was trying to say), “If wenger should fail to land suarez frm lfc to afc..I pray he wenger develops cancer of the brain and resign!!” (I warned you about his English). Gooners, and other football fans, were outraged. Saying that this is absolutely ridiculous, this man shouldn’t call himself a Gooner, this man is an embarrassment to all Gooners and some hit back saying they wish this man himself got cancer. I agree with all the outraged Gooners and football fans. However, to the small group of idiots wishing this guy gets cancer, thank you for making it a pot/kettle story, much appreciated.

Suárez then. He’s injured. Or so we’ve been told. He’s considering taking legal steps to get out of Liverpool. Or so we’ve been told. The Guardian has an ‘explosive’ interview with Suárez (link to the interview is at the bottom). Gooners still disagree when it comes to Suárez. Some want him to join, because he’s a world class striker and the Boss can turn his behaviour around. Others don’t want him to join, because of his behaviour and let’s just forget he’s a world class striker. I guess it’s clear now that Suárez really does want to leave Liverpool. It’s also obvious that Liverpool do not want to let him go. Will he be able to force a move? It sure does look like it. At least he’s open and honest about it and he it wasn’t just one good season after seven years full of injuries!

Gervinho is training with Roma, however the club couldn’t announce him yet because there are some issues with the number of non-EU players the club already has. Gooners were complaining about Arsenal being extremely slow with this bit of transfer news, ITKs were completely lost as to why it hadn’t been announced yet and now we know. It was hilarious to see how the ITKs were completely clueless though.

El Jadeyaoui. Yes that guy. If you can’t pronounce his last name, that’s okay. We’re all waiting to hear English football commentators giving it a go. Anyway, it’s been reported that he’s in London for a trial. With Arsenal. Some Gooners had a public mental breakdown, saying the club should sign quality signing instead of these young footballers who aren’t good enough. Others realised it’s just a two day trial and wishing the young player the best of luck.

Mikel Arteta has stated that he expects signings this season, though he also said most of these signings will be last minute. Gooners were excited about this news, it calmed most of them down as well. Well, most of them, some still managed to complain about the Boss being clueless and us ending up with a bunch of idiots without talent.

Suárez: injured. Rooney: injured. Bale: injured. Liverpool fans: angry, scared and frustrated. Manchester United fans: angry, scared and frustrated. Tottenham fans: angry, scared and frustrated. Now before I start making fun of them, I want to say one thing. To all the Liverpool and Tottenham fans who didn’t make fun of upset Gooners when our best player and striker left us last summer, if they do leave, we understand how you feel and we promise it’ll get better. To Manchester United fans and the other Liverpool and Tottenham fans: I hope it f*cking hurts, what goes around comes around, Karma’s a b*tch and all that. Oh and maybe this can help you guys out: If you want the guy to stay, you probably shouldn’t send threats and abuse his way. Apparently that doesn’t work. Just a thought.

In other news, The Arsenal Ladies are playing Everton Ladies in the semi final of the Continental Cup this Thursday at 7:45PM. – Bacary Sagna says his assured displays at centre back have been down to a ‘love of learning’. – Arsenal XI will take on Colchester United in final pre-season friendly on August 13. – Arsenal U21s opening match at Stoke, has been rearranged for Monday, August 19.

Good luck fangirling over Suárez everyone!

The Guardian: Suárez Interview

Diary of a Gooner: Monday – August 5th, 2013

Gooners fighting, Gooners bonding, Gooners crying, Gooners laughing and I’m back.

Today’s hottest topics? Angry Liverpool fans, Marica, Gervinho, Perez and Bendtner.

The tension between Liverpool fans and Gooners is heating up. Yes, it’s still about Suárez, it is most of the time anyway. Liverpool fans keep slamming Arsenal and Gooners continue to make fun of Liverpool. As usual there is always that certain group of people who simply take it too far. Threats are going back and forth and let’s be honest, Liverpool FC is not making it any better with their comments. As for Arsenal, they’re keeping their mouths shut. Where Liverpool has openly made fun of and slammed Arsenal, Arsenal has simply stated that we are interested in signing Suárez. Notice a difference? Thought so.

Schalke’s striker Marica could be joining Arsenal, according to his agent. If Marica does join Arsenal, it will most likely be on a free transfer. Gooners reacted in two ways. 1. Wenger Out! It’s not Rooney nor Suárez so we don’t want him, never heard of him so he can’t be that special. 2. Well at least it’s a striker. Though I personally think most Gooners completely missed this bit of transfer gossip.

Gervinho’s off to Roma. It’s not official yet, but he’s been spotted in Italy. Most Gooners are rather satisfied, saying it’s a shame he couldn’t live up to the expectations. Of course some Gooners are littlebit sad about the news, I mean he’s still our forehead after all and no matter what anyone said, the guy has always given his all in every single game. Last but not least the group of Gooners who don’t really care about Gervinho leaving, but seem to be obsessed with how a bald man can have dreadlocks. My theory is that it’s a wig and his hairband is keeping it in place.

Sebastian Perez Cardona has tweeted a picture of him, in Arsenal kit, with captain Thomas Vermaelen. It’d been reported that the defensive midfielder was going to Arsenal for a trial before. Though most Gooners seemed to be excited about the fact that he’s a defensive midfielder, some started complaining that he’s too young. You really can’t please some people.

So, Bendtner. Nicky B. Noble by Bendtner. You know who. Apparently Malaga are still interested! Somebody open a bottle of champagne, we must celebrate! Okay, I know he’s not gone yet, but they’re still interested. It can’t get much better, can it? With Gervinho off to Roma, Chamakh to Palace and all the deadwood we sold/gave away, Bendtner is the only one still here. I trust the Boss, but can’t we just give him away for free? Or maybe give one pound? Anything?

In other news, this season marks the 100th anniversary of Arsenal’s move to Islington. – Theo Walcott said he was encouraged by Sanogo’s (debut) performance during the Emirates Cup. – Arsenal Media have announced a new show “The Clock End”, starting Monday 12th of August on Arsenal Player.

See you tomorrow!

Diary of a Gooner – Neil talks transfers, Suárez and Wenger. Saturday – August 3rd, 2013.

The Luis Suárez transfer saga is a very familiar one for Gooners.  For the past three years we have been involved in the transfer of the summer but always on the selling end.

This year however that has changed and we are the buying club yet for some reason it still feels like we are blaming the club and manager for the potential failure of the transfer. I have always felt Arsène has been spot on regarding transfers and the prices the club pays.  Just because the club has given Arsène a rumoured £100m transfer budget doesnt mean we have to spend a single penny.  Improvements to the team through the purchase of players such as Suárez are mouth watering just at the thought but we are now in a time where clubs are paying over the odds just because they can.  Sure Arsenal can afford to pay these types of fees but the one thing Im proud of is that we won’t be bullied into paying extortionate fees for players (e.g. Higuaín) who may or may not make the contribution we would have hoped.

Liverpool are putting up a strong fight to keep a player that has stated he wishes to leave to play for a club who can offer him Champions League football, something Liverpool can’t offer.  While we can offer Suárez the one thing he desires, is he worth the £50m Liverpool may demand for his signature?  The answer I feel is no.  £40m is a fairer number for the club to pay Liverpool to then spend three-quarters of it on an average player to replace the outgoing player.  Luis Suárez is a world class player but at the same time he is a potential ticking time bomb and if not controlled could lead to complications for himself and the club’s image.  Arsenal prides itself on the class it displays and has players who can be looked at as role models (we’ll ignore Bendtner for this statement).  We have to decide if the player matches the fee and if the baggage he carries is worth taking on.

So the question, is Arsène Wenger or the board to blame for not wanting to pay a fee that may guarantee access to talk to the player?  Again, no.  We have every right to pay what we feel is a fair fee and if no fee can be agreed then we move on to the next target, it isn’t the end of the world.  If the player really does wish to leave then he can protest in hope a compromise may come from somewhere.

Regarding the fans screaming to spend all the money, I would happily see one more player arrive to tide us over until there are youth players ready to make the step up to the first team.  This is the first time in a long time I have been excited for the future of Arsenal when you have players such as Eisfeld, Akpom, Olsson, Gnabry and Miyaichi on the doorstep, with Zelalem a couple of years behind them.  Get a player or two to keep us competitive for a couple of more seasons then hopefully our youth will be ready to make the jump.
We don’t need to spend the millions the fans are demanding, we just need to spend the right amount of money on the right player(s) and be patient.  Arsenal will be back to being what we should be, champions, with Arsène Wenger holding the trophy above his head.

In Arsène we trust.

Diary of a Gooner: Friday – August 2nd, 2013

Fans turning on a manager who’s protecting and supporting his own players, because f*ck logic and that pretty much sums up today.

Today’s hottest topics? Wenger’s press conference, Soldado, Eriksen and the Suárez rumours continue.

The Boss gave a press conference today, ahead of the Emirates Cup, and as you may have expected there was a Gooner meltdown. Apparently the Boss has lost the plot, he’s clueless, he shows no signs of change, it’s the same bullsh*t as last year etc. etc.. Most people only bothered reading the quotes on twitter instead of watching the whole press conference. Those who watched the press conference were worried a bit, but most were rather optimistic, being fully aware of the fact that this is how the Boss handles press conferences and rumours. However, he admitted he knew who Suárez was! See, sometimes things do change!

Someone started a rumour on twitter that Soldado had failed his medical with Spurs. Of course Gooners started joking around, admittedly, it would’ve been absolutely hilarious. Spurs fans, obviously, got angry, which made it even funnier. Later today the rumours were denied. We still enjoyed ourselves.

Several social media sources claimed that Arsenal are interested in Ajax Amsterdam star Christian Eriksen. Most Gooners would like to see Eriksen in an Arsenal shirt, despite realising that this rumour was probably false. If it happens, I will be pleased and I know many Gooners would be happy. If it doesn’t, at least we know these sources can not be trusted, okay okay, we already knew that.

Back to Suárez. Several ITKs are claiming Suárez “wants to join Arsenal”, he’s got his lawyers working on it and apparently he’s handed in (another) transfer request. Gooners were already excited because the Boss himself admitted he knew who Suárez was, so most were over the moon after hearing Suárez wants to join our club. Liverpool fans on the other hand… They are absolutely hilarious when they’re angry, and they were angry. In case you think Gooners will eventually get bored of constantly laughing at Spurs, and Liverpool in this transfer window, you’re wrong. Gooners are enjoying this. A lot.

In other news, Olsson says Rosicky is helping him to be a better player. – Boss said that Sanogo and Cazorla will future in the Emirates Cup. – Wilshere will be available as well. – Vermaelen out for 6 more weeks. – Monreal expected back in training on Monday. – The Boss believes our younger players are on their way up after gaining Premier League experience. – The Boss is confident about signing someone before the transfer window closes. – Emmanuel Eboué is back at the Emirates. – Lukas Podolski’s new noise is ‘aha’. Well at least it’s less annoying than Frimpong’s DENCH.

See you tomorrow.
