Diary of a Gooner: Saturday – August 10th, 2013

Some Liverpool fans are a disgrace to their club. Then again, they’d fit right in with John W. Henry and Brendan Rodgers.

Today’s hottest topics? Gustavo, Perez and the Liverpool versus Suárez saga continues.

(Internet) rumour has it that a Gustavo fee has been agreed! Gooners reacted in three ways, they either did not care, they accused Arsenal of panic buying (again) or they were, sorta, satisfied. This story has not been confirmed.

Perez made an unexpected debut today in our game versus City in Helsinki. I’d say, well done to the lad. At first Gooners were outraged, after they’d actually seen him play their opinions changed. Though most Gooners still agree we have an extremely thin squad, the majority of Gooner were rather satisfied with Perez and how he played, especially how he took Navas down.

Back to Suárez. Where to start?
John W. Henry promised Liverpool fans that Suárez would stay at Liverpool and took it a step further by saying Liverpool will win the league again and that the club is aiming for trophies and a Top 4 place (who’s smoking, what and where John?).
Just in case you somehow managed to miss the message, manager Rodgers has told fans and press, after Liverpool lost 1-0 to Celtic in Dublin, that Suárez is NOT for sale. No sh*t. He then continued and stated that Suárez must apologise to his teammates (maybe you should stop drinking Guinness Brendan?).
Gooners, and most football fans, basically said that this confirms Liverpool is classless, for mentioning Arsenal and doing it in public, and that they’re smoking something at Liverpool FC, though we’re not quite sure what yet.
That’s not the end of today’s story though! The Irish Mirror published an interview with Suárez’s international teammate Cavani, in which Cavani said: “The Liverpool coach can talk about loyalty and disrespect, but maybe he needs to look up what it means,” – ouch – Cavani continued by saying he knew about the agreement Suárez had with Liverpool and that Suárez showed loyalty when he turned down an offer from Juventus to stay at Liverpool and fight for the Champions League spot. That’s got to hurt.

In other news, Arsenal have won their last pre-season friendly in Helsinki versus Manchester City with 3-1. Goals from Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud. Goalscorer for Manchester City was Negredo. – Fellow Gooner Mo Farah won gold in the 10,000m at the World Athletic Championships. – Arsenal Ladies are back in action tomorrow versus Everton in the FA Women’s Super League. – The First Team are back in London.

See you tomorrow!

@EvaMcL3

Cavani interview Irish Mirror

Diary of a Gooner: Friday – August 9th, 2013

The squad gets thinner and Gooners get less supportive.

Today’s hottest topics? Gustavo, Miquel, Suárez and Rooney.

We all know him, the man who seems to be in control of the feelings of many Gooners, the lovely Geoff. Geoff is known for giving transfer information and he’s rather reliable on the short term and today he simply tweeted a name, which was enough for 75% of Gooners to have a meltdown and the other 25% were left either confused or outraged. The name he tweeted? Gustavo. Judging by the reactions on social media websites, most Gooners would love Gustavo at Arsenal. Unfortunately for those who got a bit too excited, there’s another London team interested, Chelsea. Though most Chelsea fans appear to be unaware of that. Of course there were the usual Gooners complaining about Gustavo, but most seem to be satisfied with Gustavo, if he joins Arsenal.

Arsenal youngster Miquel moved to Leicester on a season long loan deal. Now you’d think that we’d be happy our youngster is getting an opportunity to prove himself, but you’re wrong. With a very thin squad this amazing deal for Miquel was simply the cue for yet another meltdown.

Suárez then, apparently he’s making an effort with the fans and he’s about to have, or already having, a talk with Rodgers about his future at Liverpool. Meanwhile, many journalists and public figures have stated it show the difference between Arsenal and Liverpool when you look how differently the two clubs are handling things. Gooners are still mocking Liverpool fans.

On to Rooney. A move from United to Chelsea seems highly unlikely, not to mention that Rooney still has to agree personal terms with Chelsea and chances of that ever happening are basically non existent, though it’s not impossible. Anyway, with Chelsea out of the way and ITKs talking about him, Gooners are joining them and they’re basically daydreaming over Rooney scoring goals and hoping that he mentions the little boy inside of him during a press conference, there’s nothing wrong with dreaming.

In other news, Arsenal will play Fenerbahce in the Champions League play offs. – Arsenal has arrived in Helsinki ahead of the pre-season friendly versus Manchester City. – The Boss says that Arsenal will act respectfully and amicably in the transfer market. – New Arsenal Ladies signing Mitchell said that she couldn’t turn the down the opportunity to play for Arsenal, and for that we thank her.

See you tomorrow!

@EvaMcL3

Diary of a Gooner: Thursday – August 8th, 2013

Hell yeah we signed Al.. ehm.. El Ja.. ehm.. Nice weather outside isn’t it?

Today’s hottest topics? Suárez, Rooney and Alharbi El Jadeyaoui.

After Suárez’s interview with The Guardian Gooners were ecstatic and Liverpool fans lost their minds. Today Liverpool confirmed what their fans were screaming already, Suárez will not be sold to Arsenal. Some Gooners reacted by saying “told ya”, some started asking themselves why Liverpool has to do everything in public and most Gooners had a meltdown. That happens a lot these days, I’m starting to wonder why I even mention it.

In comes Wayne Rooney. Wenger said that if Arsenal can’t get what/who they want, they’ll look elsewhere and ‘Hello Wayne Rooney’ it was, at least according to the ITKs. Do Gooners want Rooney? I’m starting to think some don’t really give a damn anymore. Whoever it is, it’s not good enough. We sign a young player on a free transfer and they complain he’s too young and it shows lack of ambition, we should be spending big money. Rumour has it we’re spending big, on either Rooney or Suárez, and we are not staying true to what Arsenal stands for and we’re giving in to modern day football. Arsenal and the Boss can’t win this, no matter how they play this game, they’ll lose. Simply because when they finally figured out how this idiotic game works, their own ‘fans’ change the rules.

Since we’re on about Gooners complaining 24/7 no matter what happens, apparently we’ve signed Alharbi El Jadeyaoui, it only took me 9 times to spell his name correctly, on a free transfer. He’s a 27 year old footballer who was on trial, as I mentioned Tuesday. I think we can all agree that we don’t know anything about this guy. I mean, French football journalists were confused and asking who on earth this guy is. However, signing him is ’embarrassing’ and shows ‘lack of ambition’, not to mention it shows that ‘Wenger has lost the plot’. In my opinion, and I know many Gooners agree with me, the Boss got us Koscielny and no one knew who he was. Look at him now. The Boss signed Juve ‘flop’ Thierry Henry to replace ‘quality player’ Anelka. Look at them now. So instead of complaining and moaning, why don’t we just enjoy the fact that we signed someone, on yet another free transfer, who could surprise every single one of us? Let’s not forget that we will probably have a great laugh when the lovely English commentators try to pronounce his name.. We’ve got nothing to lose.
(This signing hasn’t been confirmed by Arsenal.com)

In other news, our amazing Arsenal Ladies reached the final of the Continental Cup for the third year in a row! Our Ladies won the Continental Cup every single time.Arsenal Ladies goalscorers: Nobbs (‘8), Carter (’35), White (’40) and Houghton (’56). Assists by Yankey (Nobbs and Carter goals) and Davison (Houghton goal). – Arsenal Ladies are facing Lincoln Ladies in the final of the Continental Cup. – Chuba Akpom says it’s important to stay grounded. – The Junior Gunners (celebrating their 30th anniversary this season) have beaten the first team (with Theo Walcott switching sides halfway through the game). – Gervinho has completed his move to Roma. Best of luck Gerv, thanks for everything.

See you guys tomorrow!

@EvaMcL3

Diary of a Gooner: Tuesday – August 6th, 2013

Suárez, Rooney and Bale are all “injured”, wonder if they have the same injury as a certain former Arsenal player had. I think it’s a typical case of the “nope. Get me outta here” injury. Wonder how we can get Bendtner “injured”…

Today’s hottest topics? A religious man, claiming to be a Gooner, praying for Wenger to get brain cancer, Suárez, Gervinho, El Jadeyaoui and Mikel Arteta. Oh, and angry Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham fans.

Let’s start with the plastic fan. This man tweeted, right after he tweeted two rather religious tweets stating that he’s proud to believe in God (his English is terrible, but that’s what he was trying to say), “If wenger should fail to land suarez frm lfc to afc..I pray he wenger develops cancer of the brain and resign!!” (I warned you about his English). Gooners, and other football fans, were outraged. Saying that this is absolutely ridiculous, this man shouldn’t call himself a Gooner, this man is an embarrassment to all Gooners and some hit back saying they wish this man himself got cancer. I agree with all the outraged Gooners and football fans. However, to the small group of idiots wishing this guy gets cancer, thank you for making it a pot/kettle story, much appreciated.

Suárez then. He’s injured. Or so we’ve been told. He’s considering taking legal steps to get out of Liverpool. Or so we’ve been told. The Guardian has an ‘explosive’ interview with Suárez (link to the interview is at the bottom). Gooners still disagree when it comes to Suárez. Some want him to join, because he’s a world class striker and the Boss can turn his behaviour around. Others don’t want him to join, because of his behaviour and let’s just forget he’s a world class striker. I guess it’s clear now that Suárez really does want to leave Liverpool. It’s also obvious that Liverpool do not want to let him go. Will he be able to force a move? It sure does look like it. At least he’s open and honest about it and he it wasn’t just one good season after seven years full of injuries!

Gervinho is training with Roma, however the club couldn’t announce him yet because there are some issues with the number of non-EU players the club already has. Gooners were complaining about Arsenal being extremely slow with this bit of transfer news, ITKs were completely lost as to why it hadn’t been announced yet and now we know. It was hilarious to see how the ITKs were completely clueless though.

 El Jadeyaoui. Yes that guy. If you can’t pronounce his last name, that’s okay. We’re all waiting to hear English football commentators giving it a go. Anyway, it’s been reported that he’s in London for a trial. With Arsenal. Some Gooners had a public mental breakdown, saying the club should sign quality signing instead of these young footballers who aren’t good enough. Others realised it’s just a two day trial and wishing the young player the best of luck.

Mikel Arteta has stated that he expects signings this season, though he also said most of these signings will be last minute. Gooners were excited about this news, it calmed most of them down as well. Well, most of them, some still managed to complain about the Boss being clueless and us ending up with a bunch of idiots without talent.

Suárez: injured. Rooney: injured. Bale: injured. Liverpool fans: angry, scared and frustrated. Manchester United fans: angry, scared and frustrated. Tottenham fans: angry, scared and frustrated. Now before I start making fun of them, I want to say one thing. To all the Liverpool and Tottenham fans who didn’t make fun of upset Gooners when our best player and striker left us last summer, if they do leave, we understand how you feel and we promise it’ll get better. To Manchester United fans and the other Liverpool and Tottenham fans: I hope it f*cking hurts, what goes around comes around, Karma’s a b*tch and all that. Oh and maybe this can help you guys out: If you want the guy to stay, you probably shouldn’t send threats and abuse his way. Apparently that doesn’t work. Just a thought.

In other news, The Arsenal Ladies are playing Everton Ladies in the semi final of the Continental Cup this Thursday at 7:45PM. – Bacary Sagna says his assured displays at centre back have been down to a ‘love of learning’. – Arsenal XI will take on Colchester United in final pre-season friendly on August 13. – Arsenal U21s opening match at Stoke, has been rearranged for Monday, August 19.

Good luck fangirling over Suárez everyone!

Diary of a Gooner: Thursday – August 1st, 2013

Wenger out versus Wenger In. Protests against Wenger versus rants against the protests (against Wenger). Frustrated versus hopeful. Gooners were divided today, big shock. However, when it came to former Gunner Sansom Gooners got together as a family.

Today’s hottest topics? Suárez, Bendtner and Bernard.

Suárez, yes him again. Story today: Arsenal’s bid (40m+1) was an agreement between Arsenal and Suárez’s agent, to test out the clause in his contract. Gooners didn’t take it too seriously, the newspaper reporting it, has proven numerous of times not to be trustworthy and besides the usual No/Yes argument about Suárez, most Gooners let it go.

Nicky B then, I mean Noble by Bendtner, I mean… Wait what’s his real name again… Ah well… You know who I mean. Anyway, rumour has it Dutch Eredivisie team FC Twente are interested! This could mean, maybe/hopefully/please, that he’s on his way out. Of course even if Arsenal and Twente agree terms, Mr ‘Noble’ will probably find something he doesn’t like at Twente… Well, at least someone else’s interested! I think 99% of Gooners feel the same way as I do about this.

Another interesting rumour, this time about Bernard. Apparently Arsenal told his former club that we would bid, but we backed out. Gooners lost their minds, hang on, no, just the Wenger Out Brigade. The others were a bit devastated but still believe the club knows what it’s doing.

A completely different story. Twitter exploded today when the Wenger Out Brigade came up with protests ideas. These ideas included: stalking Wenger’s favourite restaurant(s), a protest march, a boycott and the best (read: worst) idea of all: Wenger Out chants at the Emirates Cup and every home game Arsenal plays, because that’ll do our players on the pitch a lot of good… Oh wait… As you may be able to tell by my reaction I think these Wenger Out Brigade guys/girls are taking it way too far. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but when you want to organise these events, as a Gooner, you might want to keep in mind that whatever you do should NOT harm our players in any way. Of course not everyone who thinks Wenger should leave supported this idea, the ones who did just took over twitter.

Gooners quickly got together again after hearing the awful news that Arsenal and England legend Kenny Sansom was currently homeless and suffering from alcoholism. (Go follow @GetSansomSober and get involved)

In other news, Arsenal Ladies club captain Kelly Smith has been appointed as player-coach. – The new Away Kit is in stores now. – Youngster Isaac Hayden is prepared and ready to go on loan this season to gain first team experience.
